Build a motorway instead of a wall

Donald Trump said he'd like to build a wall. But many people would try to climb over the wall and throw GM food, spray, piss, shit and bang over it. But how many would attempt to cross or disrupt a busy motorway? And it could be sold as being in the interest of reducing congestion in binational cities. All the steep mountains can be blown up like it's usually done when building these. Mexico has a road mostly along the border, but US just don't, so if someone has to move along the border to adjacent city, they must carry a passport and stuff, waiting at the border checkpoint way too long.

The idea came to my mind after I saw the 0 Ave in Vancuover suburbs and on the opposite side of the border the Boundary Road. It really looked like some kind of parkway being repaired, sice in Eupope yellow stripes modify the white ones, which is usually done when the road is being repaired. The only thing missing to resemble the streets in Prague suburbs were some buildings on the US side. One could even make a U-turn when using a SUV or a Jeep crossing the border instead of driving accross the other lane opposite direction, minding that little trench, which can be fixed by dirt from the border tunnels. The roads are so close, no wall, only that trench. Canada had to put signs and barries for people not to run into USA in the night, thinking 0 Ave and Boundary Road form a single street since they totally look like it. Northen and southern NAFTA Roads, maybe?

Either both directions could be built by USA, therefore entire motorway would be on its land, or half of the money could be given or lent to Mexico to build the other direction, therefore the border would run right in the middle. Mexico is poor, so it can't be expected to share the expenses, as with the proposed wall. Of course it should be a toll road so the border checkpoints would also serve as toll gates (maybe vice versa) and the profit should go to the renegotiated NAFTA funds.

A special law (or executive order as Donald Trump likes) could make sure that the speed limit is 100 mph or more and anyone attempting to cross it over and being run over was doing it illegally and the drivers wouldn't be liable. Some kind of Frogger minigame IRL, wouldn't it be? A cheap fence could also be put on the sides, although there are little to no animals in the desert around. The expensive animal overpasses as seen in Czechia could be put in form of plain wooden bridges between the fenced reservations, but the few animals could use the border checkpoints where the officer could specifically touch the animal and if it wouldn't make an excepted sound (like grabbing the horns and then 5 seconds late some human-imitated noise), it wouldn't be let thru without a passport.

This project is as ambitious as the "big beautiful wall" and makes way more sense. Symbolically, great nations build bridges, not walls. Walls are so 80s, Big Brother cameras and brutal police are more 2020s.
